What Inspires You?

Updated: Oct 11, 2021

Today I sat in the studio with the intention of creating a flower without knowing which flower I would try my hands on. I already had a few that I'm working on but I didn't want to go back to those. I simply wanted to start something fresh and finish the whole thing in one sitting.

I went combing the web for ideas and quickly settled on a Hibiscus flower because it reminds me so much of home. We used to have a long hedge in front our house with Hibiscus flowers from which my mom made Hibiscus wine at Christmas time.

I can't begin to tell you how yummy that was especially to a ten year old. You just had to make sure not to drink too much of the fermented stuff otherwise you could end up sleeping for a very long time.

Once I got the sketch going, I quickly applied the first layer of paint and got the piece going while keeping my fingers crossed that it will work out.

Hey, I've experiment with quite a few flowers so far but not a Hibiscus. They seem to be a bit different.

Next I began outlining and adding more color and to my surprise, it started looking like a Hibiscus.

Originally the flower had a really long stamen but then I changed my mind and added a shorter one.

Whad'ya know. The impossible is possible if you only believe.

Whatever you're doing today, find something that inspires you and let it guide you along.

Be blessed,

Talk to you soon
