When Food Influences Art

This past year, three of my seven sisters and I, and one of my nieces found many uses for our Zoom platform beyond the ordinary family chit chat.
So far, we've hosted a live forum with a Vaccine Specialist, another with a property specialist, hosted a food drive, a Holiday Thanksgiving service, many birthday parties, and prayer meetings for family who were affected by the Pandemic and other illnesses.
But greater than all those events, is our sustained and continual 4:00 AM (5:00 AM Caribbean time) fitness program. Oh yes, you heard that right. Super early.
Along with exercising came a change in the way we eat.
Because there is just no great reward in cardio and strength training while eating a lot of empty calories and snacks.
Every week thereās a new challenge to do something small yet powerful.
Like drinking 8 ounces of water a day, eating breakfast before 8:00 AM and adding more vegetables to our plates.

Then on Tuesday, the Lenten season began, and even though we are not Catholics, we embraced the opportunity to participate. And in so doing started the 40 day No Meat challenge.
No meat for 40 days means time dedicated to meal planning and preparation. So here I am chopping up vegetables for one of many vegetarian dishes for dinner and the colors just jumped out at me.

Immediately, I thought these colors should be on my canvas.
And I dropped everything, ran off to the studio and began mixing colors.
The flower paintings below are the result of that bit of inspiration.

They are just right too with Spring almost here.

I hope you have a wonderful Friday and a lovely weekend.
Best,
Anna Marie
